📅 How is the billing period determined?
The bill includes the consumption corresponding to the time interval between two meter readings. This period may vary in the number of days. Whether it is shorter or longer than usual, all calculations are adjusted to the actual duration of the billing period.
⏳ Why can the period between meter readings be extended?
The period between meter readings may occasionally be extended due to technical, operational, or service-planning reasons. When this happens, it does not result in any disadvantage for the user, as the amounts charged are calculated proportionally to the actual billed days. The start of service management in the middle of a billing period and the transfer of data from the previous concessionaire have caused a slight delay in billing.
📈 How are consumption block limits adjusted when the billing period is longer?
When the billing period includes more days than usual, the limits of the consumption blocks are also increased proportionally. This ensures that the customer is not moved into a higher consumption block simply because the billing period is longer.
🚰 What are consumption blocks?
Consumption blocks establish different prices per cubic meter (m³) according to the volume of water consumed. The first block, which is the most economical, covers consumption considered essential. Higher blocks have higher prices in order to encourage efficient water use. The limits of each block are increased during longer billing periods to maintain their progression and proportionality. The result of this adjustment is reflected in your bill.
🏢 What is the service charge?
This is a fixed charge applied for the availability of the water service. The tariff is defined on a monthly basis; therefore, under “Quantity,” the number of months to be billed is calculated. This charge helps ensure the maintenance of the network, facilities, quality control, and customer service.
🔧 What is meter maintenance?
This is a charge intended to cover the maintenance, metrological verification, and replacement of the water meter when necessary. It is usually billed as a fixed monthly amount, adjusted to the number of days included in the billing period.
🌊 What is the water canon (water tax)?
The water canon is an environmental tax owned by the Government of Catalonia and managed by the Catalan Water Agency (ACA). The funds collected are used to finance sanitation infrastructure, wastewater treatment, and the sustainable management of water resources.
The limits of each consumption block are increased during longer billing periods in order to maintain their progression and proportionality.
🧮 How is the water canon calculated?
The water canon is applied according to water consumption and is also calculated using consumption blocks. The limits of these blocks are adjusted to the duration of the billed period. This charge is mandatory and does not depend on the service provider (regulatory authority: Catalan Water Agency – ACA).
🚽 What is the sewerage service?
This service covers the collection and conveyance of wastewater to treatment facilities. According to the municipal ordinance, it may include a fixed component and a variable component.
The fixed charge for all customers is €8 per year.
The variable charge, based on the previous year's water consumption, has the following annual rates:
| Annual Consumption |
Variable Charge (Customer/Year) |
| 0 to 72 m³ |
2.21€ |
| 72.01 to 144 m³ |
4.42€ |
| 144.01 to 216 m³ |
8.84€ |
| More than 216 m³ |
17.68€ |
The revenue collected through this charge is transferred to the Town Council.
💶 Why are different VAT rates applied to some charges?
Water consumption and the service charge are generally subject to the reduced VAT rate (10%). Meter maintenance may be subject to the standard VAT rate (21%). The water canon and the sewerage service are not subject to VAT.
📋 What is an estimated reading?
An estimated reading is a provisional calculation of consumption used when it is not possible to obtain an actual meter reading. At the next actual reading, any difference is automatically adjusted without causing any disadvantage to the user.
💳 How can I pay my bill?
Bills that are not paid by direct debit may be paid through the Banco Santander ATM network or at our offices. We recommend SEPA direct debit as a payment method because it provides convenience, ensures timely payments, and allows for more efficient bill management.
🔍 What can I do if I have unexpectedly high water consumption?
It is recommended to check for possible internal leaks, such as leaking toilet cisterns or taps. If the consumption cannot be justified, you may contact customer service so that your case can be reviewed individually.
ℹ️ Final information notice
